The best essay I have written during my time studying films at college was on representation in Skyfall and The Dark Knight Rises, in which I achieved an A-.
This essay was my longest and most well written piece of criticism in an essay as I felt that the topic of representation wasn't handled well in either of the films mentioned. Because of this, I found that my essay on this topic had a lot more passion put into it and I spent a lot more time working carefully to put forward my points and observations and give the evidence accordingly.
With this essay being one of the last I completed in my first year, I could see a clear improvement in my critical eye, being able to spot certain microelements and decipher them with different meanings and interpretations that I would not have been able to do at the start of the year.
To me, this essay represents my best work from my favorite subject and how I can examine the elements within and the context surrounding a film to make valid points and criticism of the art that I love.
