Nathan Fisher's Portfolio
The first screenplay I wrote was for my Film Studies NEA project where we were tasked to write a short film within 10 pages.
I managed to formulate my idea, the story of a couple trapped in a bunker after a nuclear disaster, quite quickly as I felt it could make for a compelling short story about mistrust and relationships whilst also not being too grandiose of an apocalyptic film.
This project has greatly helped me in developing the skills necessary to write a screenplay and what goes into making a great film from a writing perspective as I had to cut four pages due to how many ideas I had in the first draft. Knowing when to cut back and what to remove from the screenplay is a valuable skill to have when writing films.
I really enjoyed writing this short film and it inspired me to begin writing my own script based on an idea that I had for a film.
This is the second screenplay that I am continuing to write currently. I was inspired to begin writing this screenplay after the NEA project taught me the skills necessary to create a well-structured and well written screenplay.
With those skills, I transformed an idea that I had for a heist movie into my next project, hoping to complete it and possibly one day make it into a feature film.
Whilst the screenplay isn't complete currently, I find myself improving as a writer every time I revisit it; removing, modifying or adding better and better scenes which is greatly helping my creativity and passion for making films.
