Nathan Fisher's Portfolio
The first short film I have ever shot was this horror film that I called "Familiar Face".
I created this short film whilst on a cruise holiday in 2023; I shot, edited, colour graded and directed it entirely alone (with my partner as lead actress) as a learning experience for what creating a film would be like and to get to grips with the editing software DaVinci Resolve.
I really enjoyed this entire project, directing and framing each shot felt natural to me and editing it was a great way to learn how to use DaVinci Resolve effectively.
During 2023, I undertook work experience with a local video production company called "Sam Teale Productions" where I worked closely with Sam Teale on a number of advertising shoots for the company Housing Units.
During one of these shoots, Sam gave me a camera to create my own behind-the-scenes video so that I could learn about filming so that I could edit it together to better understand the editing software he had provided for me to use.
I feel like this small project really inspired me with video creation as I found the entire process to be an enjoyable experience and the knowledge that Sam Teale gave to me was invaluable for my future projects.
Whilst working for Sam Teale, also on the Housing Units shoot, I recorded the audio of the narration that was used on the final product uploaded to their YouTube Channel.
This helped me to understand audio recording a lot better than I previously had done, teaching me how to record and mix audio to be used for videos and how to use the recording equipment in a way to achieve the best possible quality it can be. It also taught me how to better communicate with the actors in order for them to understand how the narration is supposed to sound.
